Avery Anne Hoskins was born August 4th 2011 at 12:59am 6 pounds 12 ounces.
I had been having really bad contractions the night of August 2nd so bad that we probably should have gone to the hospital that night but Chris only got about 3 hours of sleep the night before. So i was waiting as long as i could so he could get enough sleep just in case we would be in the hospital all day. I ended up taking tylenol and was able to fall alseep. I was a little bit disappointed the next day because i wasn't having any more contractions and was getting really anxious i wanted our little girl to be here already. later that day i started having contractions 3-4 minutes apart. Chris was at work and even though he told me to call him and he would leave early i was still waiting for him to get home just getting ready to make dinner. Chris called me at about 4:00 and asked how i was doing when i told him how bad my contractions were he told me he was coming home to take me to the hospital and couldn't believe i hadn't called him sooner!
We got to the hospital and if any one knows me they know i usually have a smile on my face and i'm pretty happy. When i told the nurses at the hospital that i think i'm in labor they were a little rude you could tell they didnt believe me but they got me in a bed and checked to see how dilated i was. I was 4 CM and they wanted me to stay for an hour and see if a dilated another CM to make sure i was in active labor. It so funny how quickly things changed once they found out i wasn't exaggerating, i really was having bad contractions and had dilated to a 5. They were so nice from that point on. I finally found out my nurses name, they got me admitted and told me the doctor would be here soon to brake my water.
Right before they broke my water i got an epidural it was pretty funny because the doctor told be that some women when the tube is put in get the sensation of getting their funny bone hit but down their leg. Even though i was warned it still caught me completely off guard! I think i scared the doctor because he put the tube in my back and i screamed! I had to explain it didn't hurt at all. I'm just a loud person and it surprised me ha ha!
Labor went much faster than i thought it would! After braking my water it took me 2 hours to dilate to a 10 i was going so fast they had to call the doctor back, he had gone home to see his family so i had to wait about an hour for him to come back. 45 minutes of pushing and our little angel was here!
I've learned you really should follow what they tell you to do in the hospital. When you go into active labor your not allowed to eat or drink anything. I did pretty good in the drinking part but when Chris came back with all his snacks he had these cheetos that smelled SOOO good! I begged him to give me just a few that it wouldn't be a big deal if i ate three little cheetos! Well i was wrong. i was almost done pushing when i felt extremely nauseous. Poor Chris had to hold this bag right by my face while i threw up. It smelled like nasty cheetos and because i was throwing up i was having a hard time explaining that the smell was making me even more nauseous! Luckily the nurse figured out what i was trying to say and gave Chris a new bag haha!
Chris was such a big help to me during the whole thing. I've got the most amazing husband in the world! He was always spooning ice chips into me mouth holding the nasty puke bag and wiping it off my face. Helping me with the oxygen. And being very encouraging!
Avery had the cutest cry I've ever heard! She had this little squeak at the end of each cry, she sounded like a little bird it was adorable!
We had alot of visitors and lots of family members and friend that sent flowers and gifts for Avery! Even though the hospital was great for getting rest i was very anxious to be back in my own home. I'm pretty sure if we stayed another day poor Chris would go insane! He hated having to sit there and do nothing all day.
I didn't get emotional until we were driving home. I was in the back seat looking at our beautiful daughter and i think i finally hit me. We have a little girl and she's coming home happy and healthy! I'm so blessed to have such an wonderful husband and daughter!
